Chanel Ly is a first gen Chinese Vietnamese young, cishet woman who was born and raised in East Vancouver, Coast Salish Territories in Canada. She has worn many hats while contributing to climate justice, youth empowerment, and housing justice. In recent years, she has been working as a community organizer and Chinese seniors outreach worker in Vancouver’s Chinatown, in response to the rapid gentrification of the low-income Chinese community. She also founded the Joyce Area Residents Association, advocating for equitable transit-oriented development in her local immigrant family neighbourhood.
